NATIONALS ACTIVATE LEBLANC AND BRICE QUEENER

(Hamilton, June 23)... Major League Lacrosse announced today that the Hamilton Nationals have activated midfielders Brice Queener and Stephan Leblanc for this weekend’s games against the Rochester Rattlers. In related moves, the Nats placed faceoff specialist Geoff Snider on the injured-reserve list and moved defenseman Matt Vinc to the practice squad.
Leblanc, 25, is in his rookie season in Major League Lacrosse. The Dundas, Ontario, native recently completed his second season with the National Lacrosse League’s Toronto Rock. In 2011, he was named a Second Team NLL All-Pro and was a member of the NLL championship team. He was named the Rookie of the Year Award and an All-Rookie Team member in 2010. The 11th overall pick finished with 36 goals and 46 assists (82 points), leading all rookies in goals in the process. Leblanc played midfield for Division II Queens University and compiled a team-high 75 points (54+21) in 2009. He was named Conference Carolinas Player of the Year and to Conference Carolinas All-Conference First Team.
Queener, 28, enters his second season with the Nationals and third in the MLL. He played in a career-high five games with the Nationals in 2010 and recorded four goals and one assist. In his career, he also played for the Rochester Rattlers during the 2006 season, appearing in four games. The Georgetown product was the Rattlers’ third-round selection (27th overall) in the 2006 MLL Supplemental Draft. The Penn Yan, NY, native was a four-year starter at midfield on the men's lacrosse team which reached the NCAA Tournament quarterfinals all four years. He is the older brother of Nationals goalie Brett Queener.
To make room for the two midfielders, Geoff Snider was placed on the IR. He had 26 ground balls, three points and 59 faceoff wins in four games. He ranks second in the MLL with a 55 percent faceoff winning percentage. Vinc was also deactivated and placed on the practice squad. He appeared in two games with Hamilton this season.
The Hamilton Nationals will embark on a home-and-home series against the Rochester Rattlers this weekend. The series kicks off on Friday, June 24th at Sahlen’s Stadium at 7:30 p.m. The second game is a 7:00 p.m. contest the following day at McMaster University’s Ron Joyce Stadium. Both games will be broadcast live on ESPN3.com.
