NATIONALS TO SPEND FIRST WEEKEND IN STEEL CITY

(Hamilton, May 6)… The Hamilton Nationals will hold their inaugural training camp this weekend at Ron Joyce Stadium at McMaster University. Day One of camp is slated for 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 7th. The second day is a 9:00 a.m. start on Sunday, May 8th. The sessions are free and open to the public.
Notable players attending the first day of camp include Brodie Merrill, Jordan Hall, Cody Jamieson, Sid Smith, Joe Walters and Craig Point. The practice sessions will be run by head coach Regy Thorpe, and assistant coaches Jason Johnson and Gary Gait.
“The staff is excited and the players are excited to get things going,” said Thorpe. “We have a lot to do in a short amount of time. We are looking to have a good weekend of training camp.”
The Nationals are bringing Major League Lacrosse to the Steel City after spending the last two seasons in Toronto. In 2009, the Nats were the league champions. Hamilton will open its season on the road on Saturday, May 14th against the Denver Outlaws at 9:00 p.m.
The Nationals will host the 2010 MLL Champion Chesapeake Bayhawks in their home opener at McMaster University on Thursday, May 19th at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are priced at $25, $20 and $15 plus applicable service charges.
